The importance of Gutters in Summer

This summer is as hot as ever. It is also windy and rainy in spite our best wishes. Some customers of mine like to wait until the Fall to make fixes on their home's drain system; I argue this is a mistake.

As chaotic this Summer might seem to people, it doesn't match the scenarios Fall will bring. Metropolitan areas like Atlanta's suffer of so many gutter problems, it is one of the top concerns of homeowners.
Summer and Spring are the best times of year to make installations, repairs, cleaning, etc. It really pays to inspect your gutter system every once in a while, but specially during Summer just before the season is over.

  1. Summer is the best time for us to check the exterior parts of the house for possible repairs. First is because we might not be able to do them anymore when the rainy season comes. Another is that if we let it wait for a couple of months or a year, the rain will do more damage to it, and it can cost more money. We should always make it a point to check our gutters and roof before the summer ends.

  2. Gutters might be pricey, but these serve different and important functions that will keep your home safe and sound. These help control rainwater-related problems by taking the rainwater from the roof and draining it away from the foundation. Rainwater is one of the biggest threats to your home's foundation, so make sure to have your gutters clean and clogs. - [Kermit Lukacs]

  3. That’s right Leif. Aside from choosing quality gutters to last, we should also know when the right time to replace them is. If we wait a little too long, some parts of the roof might be pulled down by the gutters if they are detached by heavy rain. Too bad if those parts were still good for a couple of years.

  4. Summertime may not possess a big threat to your roof, but it is the best time to have it checked and repaired. And yes, all of you are right with your points about gutter maintenance. The roof and the gutter work hand-in-hand, so always have both of these checked. :)
